December Delights 2024

Every December, as I put out my Christmas decorations, my recurring themes stand out. All the houses, all the trees, and last year I made a "Planet Tree" to go with my Star Trek tree to add to my love of space. This year, I'm adding some more celestial objects and omitted others of my themes. That's right. I deleted a few things. But, everything is still a sight to enjoy.

So, let's get on with the December delights!

I've been decorating with thimbles for almost 20 years and my ThimbleWorld has grown exponentially. With the new flooring, I did not want to drag that big table across the floor and possibly gouge a hole or scratch it up. So, I've done something I've wanted to do for some time. I made ThimbleWorld SMALLER. Yup. Smaller. I put it on the table that ALL the other Thimble Villages are on. So, this is the smallest it has ever been. But, I focused on Festive and what was necessary to my original design and instead of a 5 foot display that takes up almost an full wall, this is only 3 foot and has a lot of UP!

The planets still fill the sky with Star Trek ships keeping watch among them.

The town is condensed to a small town with a main tree to light the night. As always, atop the "mountain" is the telescope. The Lodge is a level down. Can you find Bigfoot?

The countryside is still there with many hidden things to find--including another Bigfoot!

UPDATED CHANGE
I did not like the igloo on the lake. So, I moved the igloo, and then had to come up with the barren spot left at the lake. So, ice fishing, anyone? The fishing shack is made of a green Monopoly game house. The pole(s) are the ends of pins.

Another addition I've always wanted to do. "OH what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh."

So many things hidden...including a UFO abducting a Santa and the Millenium Falcon...

As always, Christmas Village fills the center, but it now is all together and going up. The North Pole is all the way at the top with the Christmas houses one level down. The train station and Christmas "businesses" are at the bottom.

And this year, I made a new train station that steals the show!

My main tree had to be the smaller "Scott tree" this year. It turns out I'm allergic to the new little tree I used last year. I added a celestial touch to the snowflakes.

Among the suns and moons on the left is this.

Under the tree. Note the new spot the igloo was moved to.

With this smaller tree, I can finally see the train in full behind it. I had to add the extra blue car to make up for the fact it was all visible.

Underneath are houses, trees, and snowmen.

Of course, there are more trees.
The Star Trek tree.

The globe has Santa taking a Christmas list from an alien.

The Planet Tree

The big front window has houses galore!

To the right is the white tree that is usually filled with red birds. But, now it has blue birds and blue snowflakes.

To the left is a simple with house and tree with a HUGE ornament made by my daughter.

The North Pole complete with Santa and Mrs. Claus, elves, and fun loving snow people.

The Nook

The table.

Above the table is an abduction is progress...

The bar is lit and covered with lots to see.

There, under the corner...

Across the top.
Grandma's house and Gingerbread house.

The Bar on the bar. Santa needs to warm up.

I made this because of something I saw a the nativities display at the church.

Old Man Winter has blown in.

I made a bunch of pipe cleaner trees for ThimbleWorld, but with the smaller version, I had no use for them. So, I made a Charlie Brown tree, then Charlie, then Linus. This gave me the idea to create a "scene" of Charlie and Linus getting a Christmas tree.

The Town Hall made from a Whoppers box.

The Library. Carolers are caroling while an Angel hovers overhead.

I made a couple new thimbles that ended up at the Library.

The kitchen has decorations as well.
The Mug Tree.

The Christmas thimble rack.

Signs say "Season's Greetings."

The kitchen window.

More decorations; more thimbles.

Ho, ho, ho! Away he goes!

Since ThimbleWorld is smaller this year, I didn't have the space to my homestead in it. So, I created a diorama box for it. Home Sweet Home!

That's right. I hate snow. And, since I love Halloween, I have the "evil" section--even my own evil snowman that I made.

Even Bigfoot gets into the action.

Another Planet tree, albeit not 3D.

I still light up outside.

What's that? Fra-gee-lay?

Merry Christmas!!

Bigfoot hiding places. Some I added later.

Behind the bar.

Behind Gramma's house.

Enjoying the Christmas tree beside the Lodge.

Beside the cabin.

Checking up on Santa.

Beside the gnome house.

Abominable at the North Pole.
