March Easter 2016

With Easter in March this year, everyone is blessed with a second display for the month.  With Easter coming quickly, it was time to get the show on the road (counter, actually).

Some new things this year are the lovely Spring-time trees and small, decorative eggs.  And, one other surprise.  But, mostly the display is in usual form.  Easter is when I finally display the (actual) blown egg with lighthouses that I bought in Winchester Bay (in upper right).

Here is ducky in the pond.

Bunny at the egg tree wishing everyone a Happy Easter!

And, new this year...

...a baby chick in an egg.  Yes, it is a thimble.

The new egg actually ties together elements of the display which not only includes the little animals, but also the glass egg with the aluminum foil inside...

....and what I call the "galaxy" egg.  The swirl inside the glass egg reminds me of a galaxy.  (Yeah, I know.  It's just me.)

Of course, at the top of it all is the "rugged cross" thimble.  The cross is also repeated on the top and highlighted with four "diamond" studs.

And, who can forget the back of the display?  Spring flowers and another Happy Easter accent the blue-roofed house.

I'll be back in a couple weeks with an all new display for 2016.  Spring will be sprung in Thimble World!

Goin' Green in Thimble World

It's March and time to go GREEN!  With St. Patrick's Day represented by coins and clover and leprechauns, I keep that theme with a little more clover this year....and more.

The beer candles make a perfect backdrop for March's St. Patrick's Day. And, this year, I decided to make bunches of clover to use instead of trees. Also note the new lotus candle I found at Michael's.  The castle on the green thimble crowns the "top" as usual, and the Irish hats adorn the display.  Click on the picture to enlarge it and see if you can find the hidden pot of gold!  (Not the one with the rainbow.)

New this year is a pot o' gold thimble with a rainbow atop it.  I thought this would look much better than the rainbow cutouts from last year.

As always, I find something to put on the backside of the display.  Well, this thimble house was in my hand, so it went there along with another castle that is supposed to be in the clouds. More clover was in order as well.

Have a safe and happy St. Patrick's Day and I will see you later this month with the Easter display!
